I have learned to observe my thoughts and all of the heightened sensations that go along with emotions. Meditation helps move you to more dominant right brain activity. It's not easy, and there are no shortcuts to seeing how 'mind' arises. It's a life long practice and skill. The longer I've done it, the harder it is for me to talk about it. I personally trained with Jon Kabit-Zinn who founded Mindful Based Stress Reduction, and have practiced at The Crestone Mountain Zen Center for close to 20 years.
I have participated in hundreds of hours of classes taught by Susan Aposhyan. Her training is designed in utilizing experiential body-mind integration and affective neuroscience in our relationships. Exactly what is happening in this body, in this moment, in response to this event or emotion?
